Why can’t I open WebP files in some apps?
WebP is a web-optimized format Google introduced; browsers all support it but plenty of desktop software, older photo editors, and upload forms still don’t. Converting to JPG makes the image universally accepted.
Does converting WebP to JPG lose quality?
Slightly — JPG re-encodes the image. At the default 90% the loss is imperceptible. If the WebP has transparency, JPG doesn’t support it, so transparent areas become white; use the WebP to PNG converter to keep transparency.
