These terms govern your use of stopbyte.com ("StopByte", "we", "us") — including our calculators, articles, embeddable tools, and the archived forum. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
What StopByte is
StopByte provides free, browser-based calculators and educational content about payment processing and ecommerce economics. Everything on the site is available without an account and free of charge.
Not professional advice
Our calculators and articles are for general information only. They are not financial, legal, tax, or accounting advice, and no output of any tool should be treated as a quote or guarantee. Third-party fees and rates referenced on the site (for example Stripe, Shopify, PayPal, or Square pricing) are verified against official sources on the date shown on the relevant page, but providers change their pricing at any time — always confirm current rates with the provider before making business decisions.
Embedding our calculators
You may embed our calculators on your own website free of charge using the embed code provided on each tool page, under these conditions:
- the attribution link back to the tool's page on stopbyte.com remains visible and unmodified;
- you don't present the calculator as your own product or alter its output;
- you don't embed it in a context that is unlawful or misleading.
We may update, change, or discontinue embeds at any time, and may ask you to remove an embed that violates these conditions.
Intellectual property
The site's content, design, and code are owned by StopByte or its licensors. You may quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link. Posts in the archived forum were written by their original authors and remain attributed to them; the archive is preserved read-only for reference.
Acceptable use
Don't attempt to disrupt the site, misrepresent your affiliation with us, or access it in ways that place unreasonable load on our infrastructure (for example, aggressive scraping). Reasonable, rate-limited crawling of public pages is fine.
Disclaimer of warranties
The site and all tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
